A comma splice is when two independent clauses are joined by a comma. In order to avoid a comma splice thou shalt not attempt to fix a fused sentence with a comma. (Period.)
Use a coordinating conjunction to join independent clauses instead. Coordinating conjunctions shall number seven:
- or
- and
- nor
- but
- or
- yet
- so
Or many times you can use a semi-colon to join two independent clauses.
