Since the fall of Saddam there has been a vacancy in the axis of evil. Well, we have a candidate to fill that position. I propose that we officially add a new member: Hugo Chavez and the left-wing dictat of Venezuela. There is no doubt of intentions of the Axis of Evil. Those who defend them and in particular Hugo Chavez's revolution do so mostly out of the reflexive anti-americanism that so pervades the left, a pattern left over from the last war waged against the Soviet Union.Stressing that the global oppression, led by the United States today, gets weaker and weaker every day, the Iranian President reiterated, "The hegemonic powers of the world, particularly the criminal United States, are faced with countless problems and serious challenges today as an aftermath of their interferences in internal affairs of nations around the globe." Ahmadinejad said, "Relying on unity, resistance, and awareness of the free nations, the final defeat of the paper powers of the world would be a near future event."
The Venezuelan Parliament Speaker, too, during the meeting referred to his country's strong and strategic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and conveyed the warm greeting of President Hugo Chavez to President Ahmadinejad, Madoro said, "Venezuela and the other Latin American countries are eager to benefit from the Muslim Iranian nation's revolutionary experiences." ~Campaign against hegemony
CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez announced on Sunday that he will visit Iran and North Korea, two nations at odds with Washington over nuclear development, at a time when Chavez is seeking to distance Venezuela from the United States.
Chavez, who has promised a socialist revolution to end poverty in the world's fifth-largest oil exporter, has drawn fire from the State Department for building alliances with U.S. foes like Cuba and Iran. ~yahoo.news
Unfortunately the sympathetic ears and hearts of the leftists among us see not an enemy but a colorful foil to the fanatical fundamentalist christian in the White House. The proof of this is the dearth of condemnation and the profusion of admiration and approval. The rise of Venezuela's left-wing President, Hugo Chavez, is a lesson in what can happen when the U.S. disses an entire continent. ~Time
The premise implicit here is that if Hugo Chavez hates America and proclaims himself our enemy, that we have only ourselves to blame. But is this a truism, or is it a piece of one-way logic? If we are responsible for creating our enemies, who is responsible for creating us? In other words, this is nothing but anti-american propaganda. If America is to blame, or America is inherently evil, then naturally we will have enemies. [H]egemonic Word count: 643
